After researching UX design CVs, I noticed that many use a plain white or cream background with black text, often adding one accent colour for the headings. I’ve decided to keep my CV black and white for better accessibility and readability, which are essential in a CV. I’ll use varied typography styles to make the headings stand out eg bold or all capitals.
Writing the CV was particularly easy as I had made in the past for part-time jobs I knew how to write the basis of the information like the education and awards section of my CV. However, I would have to tailor this information more towards UX design and user-focused design.
After writing the basis of the CV, I wanted to check the writing with the ulsters CV360 resource, which allowed me to see what was wrong to aim to get a 100% pass on the CV it would. for the first CV check, I failed with 81 % and filed 11 categories, including increasing the word count from 290 to a minimum of 350 words. I was missing the education dates and the LinkedIn link. The most important thing that I was missing was a personal profile section which explained more about me.
We had the chance to individually speak to the careers advisor bout our cvs and she said that the design was good ad overall i was a good cv layout and content. one of the only things that i had to remove was i had too many “i” especially in my about me sections. after removing some of these if definitely made the flow and the text easer to understand.
Passionate about user-centred design, especially when it comes to connecting with users, understanding their needs and finding creative ways to improve their experience. My time in Scouts and volunteering gave me important life lessons like empathy, teamwork, and resilience, which now shape how I approach design. I focus on the user and making sure that my work makes a positive impact on their lives while keeping things creative and fun. I enjoy hands-on creative hobbies like sewing and crafting, which help me bring a practical, detail-oriented approach to my design work.
