In the week 11 lecture, we discussed the importance of infographics as they help link words and pictures. Infographics improve communication as graphics are faster understood by the human brain easily understanding patterns and trends of the information. infographics explain a specific story while it has beauty, utility and soundness. illustration can be effective if used correctly, but sometimes it can make the information hard to read and misleading for the viewer.
I took a look at the article 6 do and don’ts for designing infographics that work. it stated the 83% of human learning is visual so the infographics boomed in popularity, but the novelty of infographics has slowed due to the high demand.
do your research - too many brand do not take enough time to do research, focus on statistic that are relevant and give an insight on the topic at hand allowing it to build narrative best practice is that any fact that is more than one year old it is outdated
do focus on content - it is important that you don’t just look at the details but remember the content of the infographic. these infographics should tell a story and create narrative. this narrative should include a beginning middle and end.
**Do look at the big picture.**it is crucial to consider the audience, define clear goal and created a distribution method to complete a successful infographic, this will create a more successful infographic.
don’t overload it - quality over quantity, avoiding the temptations to include large amount of content, instead focus on delivering essential information to drive the message allowing it to resonate with the viewer without overwhelming them
Don’t make it all about you. - keep the infographic reader-centric and avoid promotions and focus on providing valuable information aligning with the interests and needs. add data , industry insights, competitor comparison this will strengthen the engagement.
Don’t force it - different visual content options, such as infographics, motion graphics, and interactive formats, to effectively communicate your message. have a mix of visual content types to best convey your brand story and engage your audience.
