A user story is an informal, general explanation of a software feature written from the perspective of the end user. Its purpose is to articulate how a software feature will provide value to the customer - Max Rehkopf
“As a [persona], I [want to], [so that].”
As a [persona]”: Who are we building for? We need to understand their persona — how they think, feel, and work.
“Wants to”: What is their goal? Focus on their intent, not the features.
“So that”: How does this goal fit into their bigger picture? What’s the overall benefit they seek?
User stories help teams develop empathy by focusing on the people who are using the product. they shift the focus from the technical details to a user-focused approach. this will enable the design and development teams to prioritise the key features needed. eg a user story might highlight that mobile users value fast-loading features over heavy graphics
This was a class task where we had to create user stories and stack the up on the whiteboard. this was a great task as we were able to see other viewpoints but also gave us a perspective on what types of people will be using the autonomous vehicle.
