During the lecture, we expanded on what we covered in week 3 but looked more in-depth at how typography is presented on various screen sizes including Apple watch, iPhone, and desktop. We covered the basics including san serif, serif, x-height and baseline.
We covered types of typefaces including humanist, transitional and geometric typefaces.
During the lecture, we were tasked to create a watch screen showing the music being played. I chose to present the artist in the circle in the middle. I decided to have the text bold for the title of the song and in the middle of the text presented. For the second heading which was the artist's name, I used a thinner weight for the typeface. Finally for the title of the album I had this thinner wait like the name of the artist but I put it smaller as it was less important. I also added the time as it is a watch face and is an important element. I also added elements like the pause button fast forward and rewind features on the face.
For this task, we looked at the hierarchy of typefaces. we also looked at the combination of typefaces. By using the font Joy I was able to create a combination of fonts that worked together, for the main headings I used the typeface Baskerville and for the subheading I used IM FELL French Canon and for the body text I used the typeface, Enriqueta. this showed me that the typeface helps the presentation of information and it can show what the text genre is such s formal or informal information. I added a dotted line between the different sections of the text so it is easy for the user to read the text.
For this task we used a font that foreshadowed the information being presented i used this font as it reminded me of Frankenstein and it looked spooky. For the main title, I used the outlined version of this typeface and for the title of the author I used the regular italic typeface of the font Young Frankenstein. To further this design I added the colour green as it linked to the text I thought the black main title suited the theme so I added the author's name green instead of the main title. I also bolded some of the main information so it would stand out.
We also completed this for another text I decided to have the typeface Orbitron as it looked futuristic and robotic. For the second design, I used a blue background and white for the text rather than black as it didn't stand out. For the author I decided to add a white rectangle to have the text stand out I also had this text black.
To further the design we were tasked to add a photo to the design. I used this photo as I was able to pick the black colour of the t-shirt to extend it down the page. I presented the text all in white as it stood out against the black background colour.
